Buellton, California -- July 12, 2009 – Thin
Film Technologies, Inc.,
(TFT) a subsidiary of Williams Advanced Materials Inc. (WAM), announced
today that it has been awarded $5.7 million in new contracts to provide
Visilid™ hermetic window assemblies for use on DRS Infrared
Technologies’
night vision products. DRS Infrared Technologies is a division of
DRS Technologies Inc. As part of the contracts, WAM will provide more
than $1.2 million in product and services from its Buffalo, New York
location.
These products are used by the military
to enhance soldiers’ vision capability, survivability and
mobility in low-light conditions and will support military units
engaged in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.
The window assemblies will be used on thermal weapon sights for
rifle scopes, the Humvee™ armored personnel carrier and the
Bradley Fighting Vehicle. This same type of technology and products
are used in thermal imaging applications for homeland security,
firefighting and collision avoidance.
Commenting on the new contracts, Bob Mullins, Vice

TFT, WAM and DRS have collaborated to design
a solution, manufacturing process and product. TFT, a thin film

metallization and assembly services.
WAM is a precious metal supplier and provider of hermetic cover
solutions and designs.
TFT also provides solutions for thin film hybrid
circuits as well as other unique thin film coatings, photo lithography

non-precious and specialty metal products. Major markets for WAM's
products include magnetic and optical data storage, the wireless,
semiconductor, photonic and hybrid segments of the microelectronics
